What is Speech & Language Therapy?

Speech & Language Therapy for Children

Speech and language therapy (SLT) helps children develop, improve and maintain the full spectrum of communication skills — how they understand language (receptive), express themselves (expressive), produce speech sounds clearly (articulation), and interact socially (pragmatics).

At Reach N Rise, our qualified speech-language therapists work with children from 6 months to 18 years, using evidence-based, play-centred techniques tailored to each child's profile. We also support children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices or strategies.

"Every child deserves to be heard. Speech therapy doesn't just build language — it builds connection, confidence and a voice that is uniquely theirs."

Areas of Focus

What We Work On

Our speech therapy sessions address every dimension of communication — ensuring no area is left behind.

Expressive Language

Building vocabulary, sentence structure and the ability to communicate ideas, needs and feelings clearly and spontaneously.

Receptive Language

Developing comprehension — understanding spoken language, following instructions, and processing what others say.

Articulation & Phonology

Correcting speech sound errors, improving clarity, and developing phonological awareness essential for literacy.

Social Communication (Pragmatics)

Teaching the unwritten rules of conversation — eye contact, turn-taking, topic maintenance, and reading social cues.

AAC (Augmentative Communication)

Supporting children who use picture boards, communication devices, sign language or other alternative communication systems.

Fluency & Stuttering

Evidence-based strategies to reduce stuttering, improve fluency, and build confidence in spoken communication.

How We Deliver Speech Therapy at Reach N Rise

Every session is purposeful, warm and uniquely designed for your child's communication journey.

1

Comprehensive Assessment

A thorough evaluation of your child's speech, language, voice and communication using standardised tools and naturalistic observation in a relaxed, child-friendly setting.

2

Goal-Setting with Families

We co-create a personalised therapy plan with you. Goals are functional, measurable, and tied directly to your child's communication needs in daily life.

3

Play-Based Therapy Sessions

Therapy is delivered through play, stories, games and child-led activities — so children are motivated, engaged and making progress without it feeling like work.

4

Parent Coaching

We equip you with practical strategies and home activities to support language development throughout everyday routines — mealtimes, bedtime, play and beyond.

5

School Liaison

Where appropriate, we collaborate with your child's teachers and school to ensure speech and language strategies are consistently supported in the classroom environment.

6

Progress Reviews

We review goals with you every 6–8 weeks, celebrating milestones, updating targets and adjusting the therapy programme as your child grows and develops.

Your Journey

What Your Child's Speech Therapy Journey Looks Like

Free Consultation (Week 1)

Meet our speech-language therapist. Share your concerns, ask questions, and discuss whether speech therapy is the right step. Completely free, no commitment required.

2

Detailed Assessment (Week 2)

A comprehensive 60–90 minute assessment using standardised tools and observation. We evaluate expressive language, receptive language, articulation, voice and pragmatics.

Regular weekly or twice-weekly sessions begin. Each 45-minute session is packed with engaging, targeted activities personalised to your child's communication goals.

4

Milestone Review (Ongoing)

We celebrate every communication win — first words, longer sentences, clearer speech — and keep refining goals. Most families notice meaningful progress within 3–4 months.

★★★★★

Our daughter barely spoke at age 3. Within 6 months at Reach N Rise she was holding full conversations. The speech therapist made every session feel like an adventure.
